Measure the job
Note the approximate total length, desired height, corners, slopes and any gate openings. Our fence panel calculator helps estimate how many bays may be involved.
New garden fence, damaged posts or a complete boundary replacement? Tell us where the job is and what needs doing. We review your request and may be able to pass it to an independent fencing contractor.
Share the basics below. We'll review it and, where possible, refer it to a suitable independent contractor.
Whether you need a new garden fence, a replacement boundary, storm-damaged panel repairs or a gate, the first step is to give contractors a brief they can actually price. UK Fencing Quotes is an independent referral service: we review your information and may introduce you to a contractor who covers your area. We do not install fences or guarantee a quotation.
Note the approximate total length, desired height, corners, slopes and any gate openings. Our fence panel calculator helps estimate how many bays may be involved.
Tell us whether you want closeboard, panel, slatted, metal or agricultural fencing, and if existing posts need replacing. Compare UK fencing types.
Ask whether each contractor includes posts, labour, disposal, access arrangements, VAT and warranties. Our quote comparison guide explains the checks.
Need a local contractor? Start with Ipswich, Stowmarket, Colchester, or browse other locations.
Start with our detailed Suffolk guides, or browse information about neighbouring counties. Local contractor availability varies: a place appearing in our directory does not mean we have a confirmed contractor there.

Share the postcode, work type and a few notes about the fence or boundary.
We may pass your request to an independent fencing contractor when an appropriate match is available.
If a contractor contacts you, ask questions, discuss prices and choose whether to proceed.
UK Fencing Quotes is an independent introduction service, not a fencing installation company. We don't claim to have an installer in every UK town and we never guarantee a quotation, response time or price. Your information is used to review the enquiry and may be shared with a suitable independent contractor as described in our privacy policy.

Published 2026 UK price guides put typical installed garden fencing at roughly £60–£120 per metre for many standard jobs. More elaborate styles can cost more. The total depends on the type and height of fence, posts, old-fence removal, ground conditions and access. These are national guide prices, not a fixed quote. See what changes a fencing quote or review the published cost guide.
In England, a fence around 6ft (1.83m) high is often within the usual 2m permitted-development limit away from a vehicle highway. If it is adjacent to a highway used by vehicles, including its footpath, the normal limit is 1m. Listed buildings, planning conditions and Article 4 directions can change the rules; check your circumstances before installation. Read the fence planning guide.
There is no general rule that you own the fence on the left or right of your garden. Check your title documents or deeds for any maintenance obligation, and discuss changes with your neighbour before moving or replacing a shared boundary. HM Land Registry says its title plans normally show general boundaries, not the exact legal line. See HM Land Registry guidance.
A single-panel repair may cost approximately £60–£150 when existing posts are sound, according to 2026 UK repair price guidance. A rotten post, concrete removal, restricted access or specialist panels can change the price substantially. Ask the contractor to price both the damaged panel and any supporting post work. See fence repair enquiries.
A useful written quote specifies the measured length, fence height and material, number and type of posts, gravel boards, removal of old fencing, disposal, VAT position and labour. Ask whether hidden ground problems or additional post work cost extra, then compare like-for-like specifications. Use the quote comparison checklist.
