What to include in your enquiry
Be clear about animals, equipment access and any specialist safety requirements. Contractor availability for agricultural work is not guaranteed.
- Post-and-rail boundaries
- Field and stock fencing
- Rural gates
- Larger rural fence runs
What affects the work?
Contractors may need to consider the length and height, ground conditions, whether a previous fence must be removed, how materials will reach the boundary and what finish you want. A description and a few measurements are a useful starting point; a proper site assessment may still be needed.
What should you ask before agreeing to work?
- Does the quotation cover materials, labour, waste removal and VAT where applicable?
- Who will dispose of the old panels or posts?
- Is the fence design appropriate for the ground and weather exposure?
- What is the agreed timing and what happens if ground conditions change?
Getting ready
Start with a rough length, photographs you can share later and a preferred timeframe. No need to choose a contractor or commit to a price to submit a request here.
